IMPORTANT NOTICE PLEASE READ

If you are under 18 years old your parent/s need to read this before you continue.

Welcome to my online store

Please treat it as such, as it is the same as any other retail store. Every image on this website (online store) is for sale, thus images are therefore the property (shop stock) of Peter Hill (PMH Photography). If you remove something from a retail store without paying for it, it shoplifting – a criminal offence. The same applies here (Image theft will not be tolerated, by any means including digitally transmit, screen dump, screen capture, download or display on any site including FACEBOOK - MYSPACE - FORUMS - PERSONAL WEBSITE - ADVERTISING SITE.)

“But everybody else does it” – it becomes looting (also a criminal offence by law and in some countries you can be shot for this and not just third word countries) and I am sure if everybody else jumped off the harbour bridge you wouldn’t.

Are we becoming a world full of cyber-criminals, cyber-thieves or cyber-looters? For example Facebook asks “I certify that I have the right to distribute these photos and that they do not violate the Terms of Use.” How many people do you know on Facebook have a photo/s with a copyright © watermark though the middle of it? Simply, they have lied to Facebook, violated the terms of use, and have stolen these photos from a Photographer trying to make a living.

If the image good enough to steal and face criminal prosecution, then certainly its worth buying, is it not?

Costs evolved attending an event for you to be able to view photos of yourself

For example my costs to attend an event over three days

         Fuel

Vehicle wear and tear, plus maintenance

         Travelling time, accommodation or both

         Camera equipment, repairs and maintenance

         Computer equipment and software

         Website hosting and maintenance

         Photographers time

as a rule of thumb, for everyday of photographing you will have at least one day editing the images and uploading them – this equates to 6 days labour

So who pays for all this?

You certainly don’t if you or your family illegally download images that don’t belong to them.

Please note for every image illegally downloaded form my site is one or more image I do not sell thus money out of my pocket.

This business is like any other business. If it doesn’t make money or break even, it will close down.

As equine and sports photographers we don’t do it to become millionaires, we do it for the passion of photography and seeing that look on someones face when you have captured the perfect moment in time. Most of us are involved in the sport in more ways than one. Our passion for horses, motor sport, for other sports – the same reason you compete, is our passion.

If we can make a living from doing what we love, please don’t hold that against us, as it is for your benefit as well.

Do you own the rights of photos taken of yourself?

If you think you should own the rights to photos taken you or your horse etc… then I would suggest employ a commercial photographer for a day under those terms!

The going rates are:

Approx $250.00 per hour + GST Photographing time.

Approx $90..00 per hour + GST Editing Time

Approx $0.48 per km travelling + GST

Plus CDs, etc…etc…

$2500.00 appox for an 8 hour day. Thus why commercial photographers don’t attend events as no-one would pay or could afford that!

Equine photographers charge far too little compared to that scale don’t they?

Lastly…

So if we get a little upset over a Copyright issue, I would hope now you understand the reasons and why there is a Copyright Law to protect our income, as there is Employment Law to protect your income. I’m sure you would be little more than upset if your boss decided at the end of the week that he/she just didn’t want to pay you for no apparent reason.

I would like to take this opportunity to bring to your attention, our copyright terms.
